Set Theory course site
Wellcome to the official site of the course
Cantor's dream: A first course in axiomatic set theory.
This site will be built mostly by the students of (the) course.
Meanwhile, here are:
- The course announcement.
- The course students, together
with their contact details: You are encouraged to contact one another
and discuss what you learn in the course.
-
Here is a movie
from the first lecture in the course,
and here is another one.
- A book covering the first part of the course (and more) is
available in my free books web page.
- The major published book for the course is:
Krzysztof Ciesielski,
Set Theory for the Working Mathematician.
This terrific book is available in soft cover which is not very expensive
(see above link).
I warmly recommend its purchase. (Some minor Errata.)
Assignment instructions
The assignements should be made in LaTeX.
All you need in order to learn/install/whatever
is available in my links page,
under the title LaTeX stuff.
Some assignements of students
Following are several assignements of students.
The students were asked to study LaTeX and you will see that
some of them got the idea very well.
The assignment was to summarize two lectures (1.5 hours each) and
try to add some extensions.
I have not corrected the mistakes in the assignments, but
you will find out that some assignments are quite nice.
However, as the students had to translate the notes from Hebrew
you will find out many wrong terminologies. Beware...
Efrat and Roy's assignment
Harel and Avi's assignment
Inara's assignment
Avital and Michael's assignment
Mishael's assignment
I recommend on reading the last two assignments, which cover the most
interesting lectures.
