Fall 2014

Office Hours: TBA

This seminar course introduces syntactic representations for NLP students. We will dicuss grammar formalisms such as CCG, TAG and LFG and Dependency Grammars, and concepts like traces and long-distance-dependencies. We will also discuss concrete implementations of these beasts.

Some classes will be given as frontal lectures, but most of the course will be given as a seminar. Ocassionally, I will hand some reading material to be read before class.

Students are required to read papers or book chapters and present them in class, as well as hand in a few short assignments. The grade will be based on class participation and quality of presentation.
